Each month, Credit Union 1 embraces its mission of making a difference through a variety of events. From fostering financial literacy to charitable contributions and volunteer activities, CU1 is dedicated to supporting its communities.
In January, the Credit Union 1 Educational Development Association donated $2,000 to the University of Chicago Donoghue Charter School to support educational needs. Serving students from Pre-K to 5th grade, this contribution helps provide valuable resources and opportunities for young learners.
The CU1 team at UIC attended the MLK Dream Classic at Marshall High School, a basketball tournament featuring top teams from Illinois and Missouri. During this event, CU1 delivered financial literacy presentations to teams, parents, and faculty, emphasizing the importance of financial education alongside athletics.
The Rantoul branch continued its dedication to education by visiting Head Start Preschool, where team members read to young students. The branch also participated in Money Monday$, a financial literacy event at Rantoul Township High School, reinforcing CU1’s commitment to empowering young adults with essential financial knowledge.
The Brookfield branch honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by attending a celebration at the YMCA, joining community members in reflecting on his impact and promoting unity.
In Nevada, CU1 proudly supports Real Talk, an organization dedicated to keeping youth on the right track. Real Talk organizes mixers to build connections and raise funds, ensuring engaged youth receive monthly funding for activities or sports. CU1 has collaborated with Real Talk to empower the next generation and plans to incorporate Financial Education into its career readiness program, equipping young individuals for success.
CU1’s continued dedication to community impact was recently recognized at Operation Uplift’s 36th Annual Gala, where we were honored with the Keith E. Harris Corporate Donor Award. This award highlights CU1’s ongoing commitment to supporting organizations that uplift and preserve community history. CU1 remains dedicated to serving its communities, making a lasting impact through education, financial literacy, and volunteerism.
